New technology strengthens Bloomington sheet metal business
New Technology Improves Local Business:
A local company has a new laser-cutting machine to cut metal with faster production time, and that may help bring more business to Monroe County.
Wilhelm affiliate, Poynter Sheet Metal, Inc., located in Bloomington on State Road 37, is proud to announce the arrival of its new Trumpf 3030 laser. The laser expands Poynter’s cutting capabilities to one-inch mild steel, one half-inch stainless steel, and three-eighth-inch aluminum.
Their previous machine would only cut up to three-eighth-inch mild steel.
While this may seem like a small change, it will open up a lot of business for Poynter by allowing them to cut pieces they were not able to before. Customers can also expect better cut quality, improved turnaround times and higher tolerances.
Poynter plans to use the machine to cut everything from production parts for other manufacturers to structural components for construction projects.
“This machine gives us the ability to serve a wide array of customer needs. If a customer needs anything of metal our company has the ability to fabricate it. We are completely automated in every aspect of our fabrication, which ensures a high level of quality,” says company president Joseph Lansdell.
An open house is scheduled on Wednesday, May 16 from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. to show live demonstrations of the Trumpf 3030 laser, as well as tours of the newly remodeled office.
