Project Update: UF Health medical office building in Jacksonville, Florida
Through a joint venture with Perry-McCall Construction, professionals with healthcare experience throughout the north Florida area, Wilhelm is the general contractor on this new state-of-the-art medical office complex.
Currently, the two-story portion of the project is 100 percent weather-tight. The roof and half of the windows have been installed on the medical office building tower portion and the team expects to be weather-tight by the end of April. All of the large HVAC and electrical equipment have been set in the building. By mid-May, some of the air handlers should be in position to be activated.
The biggest challenge so far, according to Project Manager Mitch Davison, has been coordinating the electrical and plumbing wall rough-in for all of the sophisticated medical equipment and headwalls in order to maintain the area start dates for drywall work. However, a sign of a good team is the teamwork. Nearly all of the drywall will be hung on both floors of the two story portion by the end of April.
“Thanks to a great group of subcontractors and an owner team that is committed, we have maintained the project schedule,” says Davison.
