Safety Tip of the Week: Smoking and Tobacco Use

Save Your Health & Your Money, Quit Smoking:

Smoking damages nearly every organ in the human body and is linked to several different cancers including lung, mouth, lips, nasal cavity and sinuses, larynx, pharynx, esophogas, stomach, pancreas, kidney, bladder, uterus, cervix, colon/rectum, ovary, and acute myeloid leukemia. Each year, about 3,400 non-smoking adults die of lung cancer as a result of breathing secondhand smoke. Secondhand smoke also causes about 46,000 deaths from heart disease in people who are not current smokers, each year. There are nearly 230,000 new cases of lung cancer in males and 110,000 females annually. (American Cancer Society, Cancer Facts & Figures 2012)
