Wilhelm provides parking for new downtown Fishers development
The Town of Fishers is excitedly awaiting the completion of The Depot at Nickel Plate, a 478,000-square-foot mixed-use space in front of the Fishers Town Hall. This space will house luxury apartments and retail stories. F.A. Wilhelm Construction is in the final stages of work on the 430-car parking garage for tenants and shoppers.
The $1.5 million bid package Wilhelm is performing includes installation of foundations, slabs and podium concrete. The podium includes the third level of the parking garage, which is a post-tensioned concrete deck. Wilhelm is also performing the masonry for the garage as well as the elevator shafts included in the residential portion of the project.
Derek Carlson, Wilhelm’s project manager on The Depot, said everything has been on schedule despite the weather. Wilhelm made a push to get all of the concrete work done before the cold weather set in, so the last deck pour was on December 31, 2013.
“It was difficult,” Carlson said, “but we beat most of the cold.”
The next phase will begin in late March or early April, at which point Wilhelm will complete its portion of the work.
The Depot is part of a larger and more vibrant vision the Town of Fishers is trying to create for itself, and is the first development built under this vision. The Town plans to provide a more traditional, walkable city area with businesses, offices, services, new housing options and more.
This $42 million project includes 242 luxury apartments as well as 15,000 square feet of retail space. The rooftop deck will overlook 116th street and be accessible to the occupants of the two-story residential space. The retail space will be positioned below the residential levels.
The first phases will be finished November 2014 and the rest completed by April 2015.
