Indianapolis Airport Authority

Indianapolis, IN

Since its opening in 1931, the Indianapolis International Airport has consistently adapted and grown to meet the challenges of the commercial aviation industry. Economic growth and stability were primary factors that allowed the airport to continuously expand. These factors contribute to the success of the City of Indianapolis and the surrounding metropolitan area. The Indianapolis International Airport was one of the largest, and most significant projects undertaken by the City of Indianapolis. Designed for maximum safety, comfort and convenience, the airport accommodates more than 7 million passengers each year.

Wilhelm was responsible for the 7,500-car parking structure, the concrete construction for the terminal, the concrete and steel construction for the concourse as well as the concrete construction for the underground deicing reservoir. Due to the complexity of this project’s concrete structure and the tight schedule, it was constructed as eight separate structures.
