INDOT Centerville Welcome Center
Centerville, IN
The new westbound I-70 Centerville Welcome Center is a facility designed to enhance the travel experience for motorists while celebrating the region’s cultural identity. The 12,000 SF Welcome Center is thoughtfully designed to provide a comfortable, modern space for visitors to rest, access travel information, and enjoy exhibits highlighting the rich history of basketball in Indiana—a central theme that connects travelers to the state’s deep-rooted passion for the game.
In addition to the main facility, the project features a dedicated trucker restroom building to better accommodate commercial drivers, as well as a separate maintenance building to support ongoing operations and site upkeep.
The scope also included extensive site development, with new roadways, parking areas, and pavement designed to efficiently handle both passenger vehicles and heavy truck traffic. Hardscape elements and landscaping were carefully integrated to create a welcoming and durable environment, blending functionality with an enhanced aesthetic along this heavily traveled corridor. The hardscapes feature things like an enclosed dog park, playground area, outdoor workout equipment, a basketball goal, picnic shelters, and a walking trail.
