Newfields formerly known as Indianapolis Museum of Art is an encyclopedic art museum located on the northwest side of Indianapolis. This 152-acre cultural campus offers a wide variety of exhibits and is home to one of the largest nature parks in the country, The Virginia B. Fairbanks Art & Nature Park. Newfields also has the Tobias Theater for concerts, provides a pavilion for special events and a café and beer garden for food and drink.
Wilhelm served as construction manager for the major expansion of Newfields. The project included an entrance from Michigan Road, overflow parking, structured parking, a garden pavilion accommodating a large banquet hall and restaurant, a covered connector to the museum, a new entrance lobby for the museum, new exhibit face and renovated back-of-the-house functions. Wilhelm provided constructability consultation, construction cost estimating, scheduling and logistics planning.

“Wilhelm’s part of the project was, in my estimation, absolutely key in the ultimate success of the entire project. It was one (if not the only one) of the aspects of the project that I did not have to worry about. If a job needed to be done, they did it, and did it well. Wilhelm Construction does it right. They should stand as a model for other construction companies to emulate.”
