IU Health Bloomington Regional Academic Health Center
Bloomington, IN
Indiana University Bloomington is a world-class hub for interdisciplinary health sciences that achieves excellence in discovery, learning, and engagement through an integrated network of faculty, staff, students, and community partners.
Wilhelm was the Construction Manager for the IU Health Bloomington Regional Academic Health Center. This project consisted of building four facilities: an Integrated Care Center, Specialty & Cancer Care Center, Central Utility Plant, and an Academic Building. Preconstruction on this project began in 2016 with construction completing in the Fall of 2021.
The 45,000 SF IU Health Cancer Center includes state-of-the-art infusion bays, testing facilities, pharmacies, nurse stations, and support areas. The cancer center houses a separate entrance and is fully integrated into the main hospital in addition to the Indiana University educational facility. The infusion bays are adjacent to a 15,000 SF terraced stoned healing garden.
The Regional Academic Health Center is LEED certified and environmentally friendly, incorporating water conservation strategies, energy-efficiency features, use of sustainable/recycled materials, and indoor environment quality amenities. The design incorporates traditional IU elements into its appearance, including Indiana limestone blended with brick highlights, a staple of the university’s health facilities throughout the state. An abundance of glass allows for natural light to stream through a multi-story atrium and main entry.
