IU Launch Accelerator Lab
Wilhelm is serving as Construction Manager for a 150,000 SF Academic & Private Biosciences Laboratory for Indiana University within the 16 Tech Innovation District. Anchored by a $138 million Lilly Endowment grant, this five-story facility—known as the IU Launch Accelerator for Biosciences (IU LAB)—is designed to accelerate discovery and commercialization in human health while expanding the IU and 16 Tech research ecosystem. Located in Indianapolis’s 50-acre innovation district, the project will feature flexible, modular lab and support spaces that anticipate evolving research needs and foster collaboration between academic, clinical, and private partners.
Engaged from the concept design phase, Wilhelm is driving alignment of design, cost, and schedule under a Construction Management delivery approach. With a heavy emphasis on speed to market and design flexibility, Wilhelm is applying lessons learned from its extensive higher-education, healthcare, and life-sciences portfolio to ensure constructability, cost control, and risk mitigation. Advanced planning strategies, early trade partner engagement, and prefabrication opportunities will support timely delivery of a mission-critical facility that positions IU and 16 Tech at the forefront of bioscience innovation.
